Kookaburra Drive By

A giant laughing Kookaburra flew into Agnes Water and 1770 in the weekend, with the aim of spreading joy, happiness and sharing a message about unity.

The Kookaburra is a close to heart project of Dr. Farvardin Daliri OAM, who spent his free time during the lock down period to masterfully create this magnificent 4.5m tall giant Kookaburra.

Farvardin built the enormous structure as a mascot for the annual Townsville Cultural Festival. He has created other sculptures over the years, including a giant koala, the Jolly Swagman, and Slim Dusty.

The underlying theme for this years’ Festival is “laughter” and that’s where the Kookaburra and its distinctive cheeky cackle comes in.

After a not so pleasant first half of 2020 and continuing into an uncertain future, Dr Daliri hopes to bring smiles and laughter into every community that he visits.

Afterall Laughter is the best medicine.
