Agnes Water Longboard Classic 2026
Hanging Ten in Paradise

27 Years of Soul, Style, and Saltwater

There is a certain magic that happens when the swell hits the Agnes Water point. It’s not just about the waves; it’s about the culture. This March, the Agnes Water Longboard Classic returns for its 27th year, and if you haven’t booked your accommodation yet, now is the time to get cracking.

What started as a small local gathering of 85 surfers in the late 2000s has evolved into a massive six-day celebration of surf culture, now hosting over 185 competitors. It’s officially the ultimate “family reunion” of the Aussie longboarding scene.

While some comps are all about high-stakes pressure, the Classic stays true to its roots: old-school retro vibes and a laid-back, social atmosphere. The Agnes Water point is world-renowned for a reason. It’s a longboarder’s dream—a wave that peels perfectly along the point, offering the kind of canvas that’s made for hanging five or ten. Whether you’re a “Grom” or in the over-70s division, the stoke is the same for everyone.

This year is shaping up to be a cracker. We’re stoked to welcome back former Australian Champion Ray Gleave, alongside last year’s winner Damien Coulter.

Keep an eye out for the Old Mal division, where the boards must be pre-1967. It’s a beautiful nod to the history of the sport, and seeing these vintage logs in action at Main Beach is a sight to behold.

The action doesn’t stop when the sun sets. We’re encouraging everyone to stay the full six days to soak up the local hospitality:

  • Wednesday 25th March: Kick things off with a gathering at the 1770 Rusty Pelican (6 pm).
  • Thursday 26th: Local Day presentations and dinner at Codie’s Place.
  • Friday & Saturday: Head to the Agnes Water Tavern for auctions, raffles, and live music.
  • Saturday 28th (12 pm–4 pm): Join us in Tom Jeffery’s Park for live music, face painting, and a “Show n’ Shine” featuring vintage boards dating back to the 1950s. Grab a feed from The Wholefoods Kitchen or a fresh juice while you wander through surf history.
  • Sunday 29th: The Grand Finale! Presentations will be held in the park or the Tavern (weather permitting).

An event of this scale doesn’t happen without the support of the businesses that keep our town humming. A huge shout-out to our major sponsors for 2026:

  • Real Estate & Hospitality: McGrath, Agnes Water Tavern, Codie’s Place, and Rusty Pelicans.
  • Local Eats & Gear: Aggie Kebabs and the iconic Reef2Beach Surf Shop.
  • Trades & Services: Bundaberg Haymans Electrical, Synergy Pipeline and Plumbing, Blue Mantis Electrical, Sparkys at Agnes, JMP Plumbing Industries, and Agnes Water/1770 Concrete.
