How far is 1770 from Agnes Water?

It’s hard to get a straight answer and it depends on who you ask…

Some will say ‘it’s the same place’, some will say ‘it’s completely different’, others will say ‘a hop skip and a jump’ and the rest ‘a stones throw’. But how far exactly is a stones throw?

Well in this case from the centre of Agnes Water to the centre of 1770 the distance is 5.9km. (congrats if you can throw a stone that far!)

That is 7 minutes by car, 1 hour walking, 18 mins bike ride, 20 mins unicycle and 30 mins rollerblade, 45mins on miniature horse and 1800 years by roman chariot.

Is it hard to find?

Getting to the Town of 1770 is easy. There is only one road in and the same road to get out. This road starts in the heart of Agnes Water – just take the first left after the petrol station.

How will you be getting around?

With a recently upgraded pedestrian and cycling pathway connecting these beautiful twin towns, steering away from using the car is easy. The pathway is smooth and generally flat with just one small hill. Every so often you’ll come across stopping areas and signage about local land marks, history and nature.

If you don’t have your own, bike hire can be organised next to the Caltex petrol station. For those in true holiday mode, you can make it quicker and easier by hiring scooters or electric bikes from Kanga Tours.

Just a little further

The surrounding National Park areas are just as magical and lesser travelled. The entrance to Deepwater National Park is located at the end of Springs Road and Eurimbula National Park can be accessed just 14km out of town.

If you don’t have a 4WD and still want to experience the untouched nature of these areas, you can jump aboard a tour with 1770 LARC! Tours departing from the 1770 Marina. These specialised amphibious vehicles can take you on a fully guided adventure to locations that even the most equipped 4WD couldn’t reach.

What about in the water?

Getting around in the water is made easy with kayak hire and a great selections of guided tours with 1770 Liquid Adventures. Also available on calm days are stand up paddle boards on the 1770 foreshore and plenty of surf board hire in Agnes Water.

Launching your own boat is a breeze with a perfectly placed and well maintained boat ramp located next to the 1770 Marina. The sand bars are ever changing, make sure to check the tides and conditions before heading out. You can view the water entrance into Round Hill Creek (the entrance into 1770) with this live webcam https://www.gpcl.com.au/environment/live-beach-cameras/1770-webcam/ . If you are heading out over the sandbar make sure to register your trip with our local VMR via radio on channel 81 and 82.

Whatever your mode of transport preference, we look forward to seeing you soon.
